I announced the site on crossfit.com this morning. Since then I've made some bug fixes and added a "Remove Last Item" button to the workout forms. You can post feedback in the comments here or in the Facebook discussion forums. The more feedback we get, the better we'll be able to make the site.
Comments
I like it. Pretty sparse so far, but I see the potential and hope to see lots of new features and improvements soon!
Couple comments:
1. It's not very intuitive how to post your score for a WOD. If you added a link or button for "Post your score" on each WOD as they came up, that would be awesome.
2. The "Kelly" link in the "Add named WOD" list does not work. Says there is no WOD of that name.
3. I dont get what the "Skip" checkbox means when entering a score
4. It's not exactly clear how to make a score RX or not.
Score Entry. I've thought about this a little more and this is probably the most important and heavily used part of the site. It should be so easy to enter the score. Aside from having a "enter your score" button/link next to each WOD, if someone is entering their score for TODAY'S WOD, they should just be presented with a place to put the score (time/reps/etc). If it's a strength day OR if the person checks "not done RX", then they should get the full on screen where you can enter all the details of the WOD.
Athletes that complete the WOD RX should just need to enter a score and be done!
On score entry: Technically, that's already the way it works. It's just that instead of having a simple form with only fields for the score, you get a pre-filled form. It's the same amount of keystrokes, just a little more surrounding information. This approach using only one form was simpler than making two different forms, one with just the score, and one with everything. The user experience to do what you describe is pretty simple. The first page you get when you log in has all the workouts people have logged sorted by the number of people who logged it. If you did it RXd, all you have to do is find the workout on the home page, click "Duplicate this workout", enter your score, and click "Submit".
I like your line of thought on this. This particular user experience is very important. If you find it more difficult than I describe, please let me know.
The problem with Kelly appears to be because a user created their own named workout called Kelly, so there is more than one to pick from. This issue is going on the top of the todo list.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I tried the "duplicate" thing a few times. For example, I did the 30 muscle-up WOD and I wanted to enter my time. So I hit the "duplicate" link on the front page and it looked good and I entered my time, but then on the resulting page it said "Non-RX" for my entry. I did this a couple different times with the same result. The only way I was finally able to enter it as "RX" was to click the "Named workouts" link under the "add" section, then click the WOD and enter the time. If I'm doing something wrong, let me know...
I think that's a leftover from an older version which will probably go away soon. If you click the "workout was performed exactly as above" (or whatever) checkbox as you enter the workout, the Non-RX thing should go away.
The problem with Kelly that you mentioned above has been fixed.
If you un-check the "Skip details" box, the rx/non-rx display is now gone. The purpose of un-checking "Skip details" is to allow you to input more detailed scaling information on a per-exercise (rather than per-round) basis. If you did exactly the weights you specified in the first form, then you don't need this and you can leave the box checked.
Great idea for a site! Some good potential here.
